SHRM | House GOP Leaders Prepare for Vote Today on ACA Replacement Bill

House GOP leadership will attempt to quell a conservative rebellion after a group derailed votes last week to express frustrations over the debt limit deal. If it can, the House will consider legislation that would cut back Executive Branch authority, reverse regulations on gun braces, and address the availability of gas stoves. House appropriators will also restart their markup process for the annual government funding bills. Meanwhile, the Senate will continue consideration of Biden nominees. 

The House will concentrate on the GOP’s effort to overturn much of President Biden’s climate agenda; Senate Democrats have already called it dead on arrival. Vice President Kamala Harris begins her swing through Africa to attempt to counter China’s inroads there.
