Real Estate Finance & Investment, The Deal | Alston & Bird Expands REIT Practice

Alston & Bird has strengthened its Real Estate Finance & Investment Group with the addition of partner Lauren Scarantino in New York. Her practice focuses on commercial real estate finance.

Alston & Bird acted as legal advisor to real estate finance company Ready Capital Corporation in the completion of its previously announced $550 million acquisitions of a series of privately held real estate structured finance opportunities funds, with a focus on construction lending, managed by Mosaic Real Estate Credit Management LLC (Mosaic Real Estate Credit LLC, Mosaic Real Estate Credit TE LLC, and MREC International Incentive Split LP).

Alston & Bird acted as counsel to Piper Sandler and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods as the placement agents for a private offering of $350 million in senior secured notes by a subsidiary of real estate finance company Ready Capital Corporation.

Alston & Bird has expanded its real estate investment trust (REIT) capabilities with the addition of Michael Kessler as partner in the firm’s New York office.

Alston & Bird has announced the election of 20 lawyers to its partnership, effective January 1.
