Alston & Bird has been recognized by the Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network (GAIN) with its “Power of Pro Bono Award” for exemplifying GAIN’s commitment to compassionate legal service.
Accepting the award are partner Elizabeth Gingold Clark and associate Alex Ingoglia of the firm’s Securities Litigation Group and senior associate Jamie George of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group.
Clark, George, and Ingoglia poured countless hours into the creation of an expert and strategic case for their client, who fled torture and persecution in The Gambia and sought asylum support. When the client’s case was expedited, their thorough and compelling argument resulted in the client quickly being granted asylum. Their commitment to help the client navigate the complex immigration system gave him a positive result on his case and the support he deserved.
In response to a critical lack of representation for asylum-seekers within one of the toughest immigration courts in the nation, GAIN was founded in 2005 as the Atlanta Asylum Bar Project. The project’s scope was to provide quality pro bono representation to asylum-seekers seeking refuge in the U.S.
