Alston & Bird and Will Sugden, partner in the firm’s Financial Restructuring & Reorganization Group were recognized by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) at their annual Good Turn Society Dinner held in Atlanta on May 30.
The firm was recognized as an On My Honor Member for the pro bono legal services provided to ensure the success and future of BSA. Will was recognized for his leadership role as a volunteer member of the Ad Hoc Committee of Local Councils, which acted in the BSA bankruptcy for the nearly 250 independent Local Councils. In this role the more than 250 Local Councils were able to participate in the bankruptcy settlement, fund equitable payments for abuse survivors, and allow the charitable mission of the Scouts to continue.
Furthermore, in recognition of Alston & Bird’s pro bono service, the BSA will name a central gathering spot in the firm’s honor at BSA’s summit property in West Virginia.
