The Carter Center, a not-for-profit organization advancing peace and health worldwide, has appointed two Alston & Bird partners to its Board of Councilors. Tony Balloon and Jason Goode have joined the key leadership advisory group that promotes the work and mission of The Carter Center and its activities in Atlanta, throughout Georgia, and more broadly.
Since its founding in 1987, the Board of Councilors has been led by some of Atlanta's most distinguished civic leaders.
Tony is the co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Global Services Committee, which oversees the international practice of the firm. He advises clients on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and commercial relationships throughout the Americas, APAC, Europe, and the Middle East, including advice on new market entry and new product rollout. Tony combines significant cross-border transactional and M&A experience with a deep knowledge of the payments industry and financial technology, including common business models and regulatory requirements.
Jason is the co-chair of Alston & Bird’s REITs and Real Estate Funds team. For more than 20 years, public and private companies have relied on Jason’s practice at Alston & Bird to help them navigate fund formation, M&A, public securities offerings, and private placements. Jason regularly advises boards of directors on corporate governance issues, and counsels broker-dealers on compliance with applicable FINRA rules. He is active in several industry organizations and is a frequent speaker on securities and corporate governance issues.
