• Represented a private equity firm and its portfolio company in the acquisition of a leading utility meter and field services provider.
• Represented HireVue, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group and leader in video interviewing, assessments, and text-enabled recruiting solutions, in its acquisitions of Modern Hire.
• Represented Ridgemont Equity Partners’ portfolio company SEKO Logistics in its acquisition of Pixior, a leading third party logistics and fulfillment services provider.
• Represented Pamlico Capital and its portfolio company, Veson Nautical, a leading commercial maritime software and services provider, in a growth investment from Francisco Partners.
• Represented Pamlico Capital’s portfolio company Veson Nautical in its acquisition of Q88, a SaaS business specializing in the marine shipping industry.
• Represented TrueCar, a leading automotive digital marketplace, in its acquisition of Digital Motors, an automotive retail and financial technology platform company.
• Represented Pamlico Capital’s portfolio company Veterinary Practice Partners, a leading veterinary practice management group, in a strategic growth investment from Audax Private Equity.
• Represented Pamlico Capital in its strategic growth investment in AVANT, a leading distributor of next generation technologies with a proprietary IT decision-making platform.

Trent McKenzie focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, and general corporate matters for private equity firms and their portfolio companies. He represents the full range of private equity investors, from mega funds to middle market shops and family offices.

Trent is a skilled communicator committed to delivering exceptional client service. His organized and proactive approach leaves no stone unturned during diligence, and his ability to grasp what is truly material to the business drives effective negotiations. He developed a deep understanding of how investors operate while on secondment with one of the world’s largest private equity firms.

Before joining Alston & Bird, Trent was a tax associate in a top Silicon Valley law firm, where he counseled companies on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, financings, and restructurings. He also worked as a patent agent for four-and-a-half years before law school, building significant expertise in the development, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property.

Trent earned his law degree with honors from The University of Texas School of Law and his electrical engineering degree from North Carolina State University.
