Ken Rothenberg is the leader of the Distressed Debt & Claims Trading Team. Ken advises investment banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds, CLOs, and other financial institutions on legal and transactional issues related to the purchase and sale of domestic and international par and distressed assets, including primary and secondary loans, private debt securities, equity interests, and bankruptcy claims. Ken represents clients in all aspects of primary and secondary loan trading and has over 20 years of experience representing both sell-side and buy-side clients. Ken also advises clients on bankruptcy and reorganization matters and has experience in special situation investments and loan restructuring. Additionally, Ken represents clients in derivative transactions, with an emphasis on negotiating and structuring master agreements, credit support annexes, total return swaps, and credit default protection.
Ken is also an active participant in the Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA), sitting on numerous committees. He is a regular speaker for the LSTA on topics relating to secondary loan market transactions and regularly assists the LSTA in updating its loan trading documentation utilized in the secondary market.
Ken earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
