• Won a complete dismissal with prejudice of a California-based putative class action filed against a health care services client arising from a data incident.
• Counseled an adtech provider client regarding HIPAA compliance and downstream litigation risks.
• Advised a regional pharmacy in connection with a DOJ False Claims Act investigation.
• Won a three-day bench trial for a client in a case brought under the Hauge Convention, securing a complete judgment and award of attorneys’ fees.
• Secured summary judgment on behalf a major pharmaceutical and beverage company in trademark infringement litigation against a dealer of gray market goods.

Chris Thomson focuses his practice on representing businesses and health care clients in high-stakes commercial disputes, privacy litigation, and False Claims Act litigation.

Chris has a deep understanding of emerging issues in health care and privacy law that allows him to provide targeted advice to clients facing their most challenging issues. Chris has litigated privacy cases involving claims under the CCPA, CIPA, CMIA, as well as federal and state wiretapping and pen register statutes.

He also has significant experience litigating white-collar cases implicating the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and Beneficiary Inducement Statute. This experience complements the complex commercial work that clients rely on Chris for.

Before joining Alston & Bird, Chris served as a law clerk for the Hon. Jane J. Boyle of the Northern District of Texas, helping to manage the court’s civil docket. Chris earned his B.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University and earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Southern Methodist University. In law school, Chris was selected to the Order of the Coif, served on the executive board for the SMU Law Review Association, and published academic work later cited in a successful certiorari petition to the U.S. Supreme Court.
