David Carpenter Honored with “On the Rise” Award by Daily Report

David Carpenter, partner in Alston & Bird’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group, has been named a recipient of the Daily Report 2019 “On the Rise” award, one of only 14 Georgia attorneys under age 40 who were singled out for making a difference in the legal community and the community at large.

Carpenter represents clients in a variety of class actions and commercial disputes in state and federal courts throughout the country. He also regularly defends clients, including Fortune 500 companies, against data breach and Telephone Consumer Protection Act class actions and counsels them on other data and privacy matters.

Active in pro bono work, Carpenter serves as board president of the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, a nonprofit organization that provides legal assistance and educational programming to artists and arts organizations. He has also begun working with the Georgia Justice Project, which serves indigent community members who are at the highest risk of criminal involvement.

Carpenter’s commitment to volunteer work extends beyond the legal world. He has served as a volunteer coach with the Northside Youth Organizations’ Christopher League, a local baseball league for children with disabilities, and participated in the firm’s partnership with the Metro Atlanta Boys & Girls Club.

The Daily Report recognition is the most recent earned by Carpenter. In 2018, he was honored by Global Data Review as one of the world’s top privacy lawyers under age 40.
