Alston & Bird hosted this first-of-its-kind seminar that brought together a group of professionals to define cyber risk and its implications to financial marketplaces and to discuss the existing regulatory framework and strategies to improve risk mitigation for the industry as a whole.
Recent incidents in the financial marketplace have highlighted the need to fully understand and appreciate the evolving cyber risk as it may impact this segment of critical infrastructure. Although these incidents have resulted from both technical errors of interconnected systems and cyber attacks from advanced threat actors with ambiguous motives, any such potential to destroy, disrupt or alter trading systems, clearing services and other infrastructure supporting our capital markets presents a system risk to the industry.
