Laura Friedel Named 2026 ‘Top Lobbyist’ by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics

Alston & Bird’s Laura Friedel, senior policy advisor with the firm’s Health Care Legislative & Public Policy Group, has been named a 2026 “Top Lobbyist” by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics (NILE). The annual list recognizes professionals who set the standard for excellence, integrity, and results in public policy advocacy.

Laura brings more than 20 years of U.S. Senate experience navigating the congressional funding process to providing strategic policy and appropriations counsel to a broad range of health care clients.

The recognition highlights the continuing strength of Alston & Bird’s Legislative & Public Policy Team, which was named a “Standout Top Lobbying Firm” in 2025 by Bloomberg Government and includes Jane Lucas, who has been honored by the Washingtonian as one of the most influential people shaping policy in Washington, D.C. Another colleague on the team, Alex Graf, was named to NILE’s 2025 list.

The 2026 NILE honorees were announced October 22, with an awards ceremony to be held November 2 at the organization’s annual gala. This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as NILE marks its 10th anniversary, recognizing a decade of advocating for, strengthening, and elevating the lobbying profession.
