Cait Haygood

• Served as bond counsel to one of the world’s largest electric vehicle battery manufacturers in its development of a $2.6 billion manufacturing facility in Northeast Georgia.
• Served as counsel to the State of Georgia in the issuance of more than $7 billion in general obligation bonds.
• Served as company counsel to a Fortune 50 company in its development of a manufacturing and distribution facility valued at more than $350 million. Served as company and bond counsel to a multinational corporation specializing in membership-only warehouse retail stores with the procurement of economic incentives and true financing for a large-scale project.
• Represented numerous local governments, development authorities, school districts, and utility authorities in taxable and tax-exempt financing and refunding transactions throughout the state of Georgia, totaling billions of dollars in community development.

Caitlin Haygood is an associate with Alston & Bird’s Real Estate Group and a member of the Government and Economic Incentives Team. Cait advises clients on economic development incentives, public finance transactions and community development projects. With client’s ranging from Fortune 500 companies to local governments, Cait has the depth of experience to help her clients with the complexities of developing and financing projects in Georgia.

Cait serves clients seeking to develop or expand a footprint in Georgia by securing the best incentives available. For governmental and non-profit clients, Cait navigates taxable and tax-exempt financings with a keen eye on the tax issues arising in public finance transactions.

Cait is recognized as a “Rising Star” in Government Finance by Super Lawyers. Before joining the firm, Cait promoted the state and federal public policy and legislative agenda as a lobbyist for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the nation’s largest pediatric health care system. She began her career in public affairs, serving as the deputy press secretary for the Georgia Secretary of State.

Cait received her J.D., cum laude, from the Georgia State University College of Law. She earned her M.A. in public relations from the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and her B.A. in political science from Auburn University.
