• Represented an opportunity-based real estate investor in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing, and sales of office and mixed-use projects in metropolitan Atlanta.
• Represented national multifamily residential developers in the development, acquisition, and financing of projects across the Southeast and Washington, D.C.
• Represented a developer in the acquisition, development, financing, and sale of self-storage facilities in the Southeast and joint ventures with institutional real estate funds.
• Represented a global hotel company in the development and sale of a mixed-use project in Atlanta.
• Counsel to leading homebuilders in the negotiation and administration of senior secured revolving credit facilities.

Jason Howard is the co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Real Estate Group. Jason concentrates his practice in the real estate and finance industries. His practice includes structuring joint ventures and representing developers, purchasers, and sellers in all aspects of the acquisition and disposition of mixed-use, office, multifamily residential, and industrial projects and portfolios. He also represents lenders and borrowers in a wide range of financing transactions and workouts, including commercial mortgage and mezzanine loans, asset-based loans, and project financings. As a member of the firm’s Coronavirus Task Force, Jason has also advised clients on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their real estate agreements, including office and retail leases and construction contracts.

Jason is recognized in Chambers USA as one of the leading lawyers for Real Estate in Georgia. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America^® in the Real Estate category and was named a “Client Service All-Star” in the 2015 edition of BTI Consulting Group’s annual survey of the nation’s top lawyers identified by corporate counsel as the best at serving clients. He was one of only seven associates recognized in the 2015 rankings.

Jason attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 2006 with highest honors, and went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Georgia in 2009, graduating magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.
