Jonathan Jagoda

• Advocated on behalf of the hospital industry throughout the COVID-19 pandemic on issues including Provider Relief Fund (PRF) eligibility and funding, improvements to the repayment terms of the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payments Program, and several extensions of the Medicare sequester moratorium.
• Advanced hospital industry policy priorities during Congressional negotiations to protect patients from surprise medical billing.
• Expanded HRSA Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program eligibility to include nurses practicing at tax-paying hospitals.
• Developed a strategy to establish and implement the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact and Commission.

Jonathan Jagoda is a senior policy advisor in the Health Care Group. He analyzes, designs, manages, and directs the federal advocacy strategy for health care clients across the industry’s spectrum.

Before joining Alston & Bird, Jonathan led the congressional affairs division of the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH), representing nearly 1,000 community hospitals and health systems in both urban and rural areas across 46 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. He developed and executed the FAH’s legislative strategy on behalf of the organization’s acute, post-acute, and behavioral health member hospitals.

Jonathan previously served in a leadership role with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), advocating for the nation’s medical regulatory boards with both federal and state policymakers. He has also been an advisor and legislative aide for political campaigns, corporate organizations, and other major health care trade associations.

Jonathan graduated with a master of public policy degree from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was also a candidate for the Washington, D.C. Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
