Matthew Pezzella advises clients on federal legislative and regulatory matters. He supports the development and execution of public policy strategies on a wide range of issues, including trade, tax, and artificial intelligence. He brings significant experience working with Congress, federal agencies, and industry stakeholders on issues affecting standards policy, critical and emerging technologies, and regulated industries.
Before joining Alston & Bird, Matt served as senior manager of government and industry affairs at an international standards development organization, where he acted as the organization’s primary Capitol Hill contact and before federal agencies including National Institute of Standards and Technology, FAA, DOE, EPA, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. He educated policymakers on the incorporation of technical standards in regulation and legislation for dozens of sectors ranging from consumer products to commercial spaceflight.
Earlier in his career, Matt worked on Capitol Hill for a U.S. Senator, advising on judiciary, homeland security, and governmental affairs issues. He previously held political fundraising roles with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and a U.S. Senate campaign.
