Andy Sumner is a Chambers-ranked attorney who counsels and defends public and private companies, D&Os, and financial institutions and professionals in M&A litigation, securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits, internal investigations, corporate governance matters, regulatory enforcement actions, and other high-stakes commercial disputes. He has represented clients in state and federal courts and in arbitration and mediation throughout the country.

Andy regularly speaks and publishes on M&A, D&O, securities, and corporate governance matters. For the past 12 years, he has authored the “Shareholder Litigation” chapter of Georgia Business Litigation, the definitive treatise on Georgia business law.
Andy graduated, with high honors from the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law, where he served as a senior editor on Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law and graduated with a concentration in business transactions. He received a bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in political science and minoring in history and African American studies.
