Matthew Kent, John Snyder, Andy Tuck, Valarie Williams, and Adam Biegel will speak at the 2024 American Bar Association Antirust Law Section’s Spring Meeting, the world’s largest antitrust and consumer protection law conference.
Matthew Kent will moderate the panel “Fundamentals - Antitrust.” This session will feature experienced panelists in government and private practice discussing antitrust fundamentals including the core elements of U.S. laws and institutions, basic economic principles, and competition law outside the United States.
John Snyder will moderate the panel “The PE Effect: Antitrust Scrutiny Abounds.” This session will discuss the increased skepticism privacy equity firms face by antitrust enforcers and the public including “roll-ups,” interlocks, PE’s leverage of debt and impact on labor, service, quality, and innovation.
Andy Tuck will moderate the panel “Fundamentals - Antitrust & IP.” This session will examine IP and market power, tying and refusal to license, exclusive licensing, grantbacks, package licensing, field of use restrictions, and pharmaceutical issues such as reverse payments.
Valarie Williams will moderate the panel “Mass Arbitration Meets Antitrust – And More.” This session will discuss how antitrust arbitrations are being reshaped in the U.S., Europe, and Canada, and exciting new approaches such as “mass” arbitrations initiated by hundreds of thousands of claimants asserting Sherman Act violations.
Adam Biegel will speak in the “AI at All Cost? The In-house Perspective” panel. This session will provide insights on how to build an AI program responsive to fast-moving law, policy, and industry trends while being an ethical gatekeeper (and keeping your law license).
