National Law Journal Ranks Two Alston & Bird Cases among “Top 100 Verdicts of 2014”

Alston & Bird represented clients in two of the country’s largest verdicts of 2014 as determined by The National Law Journal. Both cases were ranked among the top 30.

In the publication’s “Top 100 Verdicts of 2014,” the firm’s win on behalf of Mylan Inc. and Mylan Pharmaceuticals earned the No. 18 spot. The Alston & Bird trial team – led by Frank Smith and assisted by partners Michael E. Johnson and Natalie Clayton – secured a $106 million district court jury verdict against GlaxoSmithKline LLC in a breach of contract claim over the production and sale of a generic formulation of Paxil CR, a popular antidepressant.

Ranked No. 28 was the firm’s success representing Mohawk Industries in a breach of contract dispute with Arizona Chemical Co. LLC. The Alston & Bird trial team, led by Doug Scribner and Daniel C. Norris and Jason Rottner, secured a $70.1 million circuit court jury verdict.

The National Law Journal compiles the annual rankings through its affiliate VerdictSearch, as well as assignment editors who conduct additional research to gather information on jury verdicts, decisions and settlements. Verdicts are ranked by gross award calculated by the jury.
