Alston & Bird Partners Named University of Georgia “40 Under 40” Honorees

Meaghan Boyd, partner in Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group, and Kevin Gooch, partner in the firm’s Finance Group, have been named to the University of Georgia (UGA) Alumni Association’s “40 Under 40” class of 2015.

Boyd is a dual UGA graduate, receiving her B.A. in 2001 and J.D. in 2005. She defends companies in complex environmental and toxic tort litigation in federal and state courts. Boyd currently co-chairs the Environmental Litigation Committee of the ABA’s Section of Litigation and previously co-chaired its Young Lawyers, CERCLA and CLE Subcommittees.

Gooch received his J.D. from UGA in 2004. He represents financial institutions and corporate borrowers in a variety of corporate transactions, including syndicated credit facilities, acquisition financings and navigating Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. Gooch was recently inducted into the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, named 2015 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and recognized among the Atlanta Tribune's “Ones to Watch.”

Now in its fifth year, the UGA 40 Under 40 program honors successful alumni who are 40 years old or younger and who have made a significant impact in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors, in addition to having demonstrated dedication to the University of Georgia and its mission of teaching, research and service. This year the UGA Alumni Association received nearly 500 nominations for the award.
