Alston & Bird secured a decisive plaintiff’s victory in a high stakes patent infringement jury trial on behalf of Unilin, a global innovator and flooring manufacturer. On March 3, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, a jury unanimously found that global flooring R&D company VILOX and one of its licensees willfully infringed four Unilin patents covering stone plastic composite (SPC) products.
The jury awarded Unilin more than $3.8 million in damages, and its willfulness finding underscores the significance of the verdict. The court will now determine whether to enhance the damages by up to three times the jury’s award.
The Alston & Bird team representing Unilin includes partners John Haynes, Shri Abhyankar, and Brady Cox, senior associate Eric Pettis, and associates Carter Babaz and Ash Thiruppathi (Intellectual Property).
