Healthy Byte: HHS Proposes Rule to Disincentivize Information Blocking for Health Care Providers

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed a rule to establish disincentives for health care providers engaged in prohibited “information blocking.” Providers can expect substantial Medicare reimbursement implications.

Sean Sullivan, Elinor Hiller, and Brian Lee discuss the context for these new proposed disincentives, what’s in the proposed rule, what the effect could be on providers, and the deadline for public comments.

We have been covering information blocking since the beginning.
