Brian Lee focuses his practice on regulatory and legislative issues concerning federal reimbursement for and regulation of physicians, hospitals, post-acute care providers, insurers, and manufacturers.
Brian assists clients in navigating Medicare coverage and payment requirements and policies. He also provides counsel on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in response to congressional and administrative coverage and reimbursement changes. Through Brian’s work, clients have obtained new and expanded Medicare coverage, defended against Medicare payment cuts, and obtained Medicare payment increases across multiple Medicare payment systems.
Before joining Alston & Bird, Brian served as a CMS contractor, where he advised CMS on congressional actions and their impact on Medicare, counseled on Medicare payment issues, and worked extensively on CMS Innovation Center alternative payment models. Brian also served as a Medicare denial appeals attorney, obtaining reimbursement for inappropriately denied Medicare Part A services. Chambers USA recognizes Brian as “Up and Coming” for Healthcare (District of Columbia). Super Lawyers named Brian to its Rising Stars list for health care law in 2019 and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® named him to its list for health care law 2021–2023.
