Brian Lee is a senior associate with the Health Care Group. Brian focuses his practice on regulatory and legislative issues concerning federal reimbursement policies for physicians, hospitals, post-acute care providers, and manufacturers, as well as federal regulation of health plans and insurers. He assists clients in navigating Medicare coverage and reimbursement requirements and Medicare payment policies. Brian also provides counsel on the development of strategic initiatives and responses to value-based care arrangements and continued implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
Before joining Alston & Bird, Brian served as a consultant for a health care policy research and management consulting firm, where he advised government entities on congressional and legislative action and their impact on Medicare, counseled clients on Medicare Part A reimbursement issues, and developed methods to assess, review, and evaluate alternative payment models for Medicare, including changes that waive the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law. Brian also served as a Medicare denial appeals attorney, working on behalf of more than 200 nonprofit Catholic hospitals to obtain reimbursement for inappropriately denied Medicare services. Super Lawyers named Brian to its Rising Stars list for health care law in 2019.
Brian earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. He also holds an M.P.H. in health care policy from the Harvard School of Public Health.
