Alston & Bird represented T-Mobile and Ericsson against Plaintiff General Access, who sought $253M for alleged infringement of two patents directed to base station equipment in T-Mobile’s network. On April 11, an Eastern District of Texas jury issued a complete defense verdict finding no infringement of either patent and awarding no damages.
The case is General Access Solutions Ltd. v. T-Mobile USA Inc., et al., No. 2:23-cv-00158 (E.D. Tex.).
This is the third Alston defense victory in the past twelve months, having previously won verdicts in favor of Nokia in two separate jury trials accusing Nokia routers of infringement. The win was featured in The American Lawyer’s Litigator of the Week.
The Alston & Bird team included partners Ted Stevenson, John Haynes, Scott Stevens, Tom Davison, Natalie Clayton, Michael Deane, and Emily Chambers Welch; counsel Stephen McNiff; senior associates Kyle Ceuninck and Emily Fitzgerald; and associates Mary Riolo and James Atkison.
