• Represented a financial institution in cooperating with regulators to address allegations of insider trading.
• Represented the review board of a biotech startup in response to a short-seller report challenging the company’s accounting practices.
• Represented a financial services company in complex federal litigation related to the Puerto Rico debt restructuring under the 2016 Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA).
• Represented an auctioneer in a high-profile New York state prosecution for the theft of lyrics to “Hotel California.”
• Represented a class of detainees in action to compel the New York Department of Corrections to provide access to medical care, including making a successful argument to hold the Department of Corrections in contempt of mandamus order.

Jamie Bircoll focuses his practice on commercial litigation, white-collar defense, and government investigations. Before joining the firm, Jamie served as a law clerk to the Hon. J. Nicholas Ranjan of the Western District of Pennsylvania. He was an associate at an international law firm where he represented clients in high-stakes litigation in state and federal court and in government investigations.

Jamie graduated, cum laude, with his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. While there, he was an articles editor for the Michigan Law Review and an extern with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office and the SEC’s Division of Examinations. Jamie received his B.A. in history, with high honors, from the University of Michigan.
